Short answer: E32 on an HLN diesel heater means the digital controller cannot detect a feedback signal from the heater. It is a communication fault between the controller and the ECU, not a combustion problem — and the most common cause is simply a loose connector.

What E32 means

The LCD controller and the heater's ECU talk over the wiring harness. When the controller stops receiving the ECU's feedback signal, it shows E32. The fault sits in one of three places — the harness, the controller, or the ECU — and the factory order below checks the cheapest first.

Factory diagnosis

1. Check the wire harness connection to the digital controller. Make sure the connectors are fully and correctly inserted — unplug and re-seat them. Inspect the harness for damage along its run.
2. If the connection is good and E32 remains, replace the digital controller.
3. If a known-good controller still shows E32, test the ECU and replace it if necessary.

FAQ

The heater was working and E32 appeared after I moved the controller — coincidence?
Probably not. Re-routing or extending the controller cable is the classic trigger — re-seat both ends of the connection first.

Does E32 mean my heater itself is broken?
Usually not — the burner side is typically fine; the controller just can't hear it. That's why the harness is checked before any parts are replaced.

Is E32 the same on other heater brands?
No. Fault-code tables are brand-specific — this table applies to HLN heaters only.
