Diesel Heater E26 Fault Code: Atmospheric Pressure Too High — Diagnosis and Fix
Short answer: E26 on an HLN coolant heater (Aquano 5K / 10K / 12K / 15K) means the atmospheric-pressure sensor inside the ECU is reading implausibly high. The blink-code equivalent is 11010. Because the sensor is a component of the ECU board, the only remedy is to replace the ECU.
What E26 means
The ECU uses its on-board pressure sensor to trim the fuel-air mixture for altitude. E25 is raised when the reading is implausibly low, E26 when it is implausibly high — both mean the sensor itself has failed, since real atmospheric pressure never reaches those values.
Factory diagnosis
- There is no external sensor to check — the pressure sensor lives on the ECU board.
- Replace the ECU.
FAQ
Could weather or altitude cause E26?
No. Real-world pressure variations are well inside the sensor's plausible range — E26 means the sensor's output is broken, not that conditions are unusual.
What's the difference between E25 and E26?
E25 = reading too low; E26 = reading too high. Same sensor, same fix — see the E25 guide.
Is E26 the same on other heater brands?
No. Fault-code tables are brand-specific — this table applies to HLN heaters only.
